Install Zebra Setup Utilities

Download and install the Zebra Setup Utilities (ZSU) app for windows: Zebra Printer Setup Utility Support & Downloads | Zebra

IMPORTANT: Do not use the iOS or Android Utility app. If have you previously used it, you will need to factory reset the printer and follow these instructions again using the windows app.

Factory reset

Method 1:

1. Turn OFF the printer.
2. Press and hold PAUSE + FEED while turning ON the printer.
3. Hold PAUSE + FEED until the STATUS indicator ( ) is the only indicator lit. 

Method 2:
The ZD-Series printer has a dedicated reset button located on the bottom of the printer which can be pressed with a paperclip or similar small object. Pressing the button has the following results based on the length of the button press:

• 0-1 second No action
• 1-5 seconds Printer reset – Printer performs a factory reset and will automatically print a configuration label (and network label if present)
• More than 10 seconds Exits the factory defaults function without resetting the printer or making changes
  

Configure printer

Plug the printer to the Windows PC using the provided cable and turn it on. Launch the ZSU app to begin.

Select your printer and click “Configure Printer Settings”

 

Set the size of the label and click “Next”

 

No changes need to be made here so just click “Next”

 

Select the “Print Mode” to “Direct thermal” and “Media Type” to your label type and click “Next“

For continuous labels set “Media Handling“ to “Cutter”, otherwise set it to “Tear off“ then click “Finish“

You can now disconnect the printer from the Windows PC.
